Wellness has become a strategic imperative rather than a fringe interest. McKinsey estimates US wellness spending at more than $500 billion annually, growing 4 to 5 percent a year, a figure worth putting in context: it reflects McKinsey’s narrower definition across six wellness dimensions specifically, while Shopify’s broader framing puts the full global wellness market at roughly $2 trillion, and the Global Wellness Institute’s most comprehensive accounting puts the total global wellness economy at $6.8 trillion. These are not competing claims. They are different scopes measuring different things, and readers should treat “the wellness market is worth X” claims with that in mind rather than assuming a single agreed-upon number exists.
