When Your Wearable Becomes Your Worrier
The more we measure our health, the less we seem to trust how we feel
You wake up to a vibration on your wrist. A friendly reminder: Your sleep score is low today. Take it easy. (For my fellow Garmin users, you already know the subtle jabs of our digital overlords).
You check your heart rate variability, your recover score, your sleep stages (maybe some snoring sound clips), and before you have even taken your first sip of coffee, a number has already told you how you are supposed to feel.
This is wellness now: precision, prediction, perpetual feedback.
But as wearables and wellness apps have become permanent fixtures of daily life, a real paradox has emerged. The more we measure health, the less some of us seem to feel it.
