Scroll through social media and you’ll find it everywhere; perfectly filtered coaches offering transformation in a weekend, confidence in a click, or a six-figure mindset for the cost of a masterclass. It’s a movement that markets hope, wrapped in empowerment, often signed with a smile and a trademarked catchphrase.
But beneath the affirmations and affiliate links lies an industry largely unregulated, self-referential, and quietly lucrative.
As 2025 closes, one uncomfortable question demands an answer: Who’s really coaching the coaches?
The Billion-Dollar Boom
In 2016, the global coaching industry was valued at roughly $2 billion. By 2024, that number had more than tripled. Fueled by social media visibility, post-pandemic career confusion, and a growing appetite for personal transformation, coaching has evolved from niche service to mainstream movement.
